There is a turmoil going on between the acolytes of each temple. I cannot be certain to what it is they are fussing over, but their behavior has been very cryptic.
If you are of the curious nature, then I would suggest that you go talk to each acolyte ajd see if you can gather any information from them.
It will not be easy, for al of my inquiries went unanswered with each acolyte. My advice to you, they worship different gods, play to their varying personalities.

To be honest though, we really don't know anything being at the bottom of the ally chain from Deoch and Sgrios. Yes, this situation centers on those two temples, but don't waste your time with them, they will not say a word.
Our allies over at the Gramail temple are also at a lost as well. If you talk with them, they will tell you the same thing I am telling you. ((You can begin this quest from the Gramail acolyte or at the Luathas acolyte. The quest starting at the Luathas acolyte is different from the Gramail acolyte, and one character can only do one side of the quest.))
If you're steadfast on figuring out what is going on, I may be able to get some information from our Cail associates.

Pollution has plagued Temuair for many Deochs now. The rivers are littered with unnatural waste. The rivers are the life veins of Temuair, we cannot survive without them.
Since the fishing trade began, Aislings have been pulling old boots from the waters. It was then that we realized the damaged that has been done.
We must cleanse our waters from these impurities. We do not need you to pull out more boots, many Aislings are doing that just fine.
We need you to fish out used cauldrons. Many strange concoctions are brewed in cauldrons, whether it is a magical potion or a tasty stew. Whatever it is, we cannot have it mixed into our rivers.

There are two Mundanes in Temuair who love each other very much. The problem is one does not know the other is alive, and the other wants to keep it this way.
We are speaking of Alane, the Oren jeweler. She thought her fiancee, Muhsin, was killed by thieves, but apparently that was not the case. He is very much alive in Mileth. For some reason he refuses to confront Alane.
Your task is to somehow reunite these two lovers.

Yes Alane was or is my fiancee. It has been many Deochs since I have seen her, but I dare not confront her.
I am too ashamed, oh the terrible and deceitful things I have done. I can't....I just can't.
You see, Deochs ago, shortly after we became engaged, I bought the engagement ring, but I foolishly gambled it away. I could not bring myself to confront Alane.
So I led her to believe I was dead. I regret doing this because now I feel more ashamed and lonely than before. But it's too late, I cannot go back to her now, her grief for me will turn into anger and hatred.
And I will be back to where I am now, alone. Sigh

Excellent. You have done well. Now I will explain everything.
One would suspect that it was the Deoch temple that started this all, but no, it was the Sgrios temple.
It seems Sgrios has always wanted more than just feed off the dead. He plans to bring decay and destruction to the living as well. For a long time now the Sgrios temple has been trying to awaken Chadul. This was recently confirmed by our spies within the temple.
But awakening the ultimate darkness is no easy task. All of their attempts have failed, until recently.
Through extensive research in botany, combined with the power of the four elements, and many prayers to Sgrios, they created the seed of darkness.
They have already planted this seed many Deochs ago, hoping it would grow into a sufficient host for Chadul, a portal to our world.
The Deoch temple could not allow this. So through our spies, we were able to imitate their process and create our own seed to reincarnate Danaan.
The seed has been planted and it is almost fully grown. To be honest, we cannot tell if our tree is the reincarnation of Danaan. And we do not know if Sgrios's tree is Chadul.
We have one final task for you, in return you will receive something of great value.
Whether their experiment to revive Chadul was successful or not, we would like you to... intervene and ensure their failure.
Here is a special vial that we would like you to pour at the roots of this tree of darkness.
Our spies tell us the Chadul tree is located somewhere in House Macabre. Look for a hole in the ground, with shovels to the north and south, and a pile of skulls to the east. May Danaan be with you.
