Event - The Entreaty Aftermath

Dark College 1

Uistean
"The Entreaty: Aftermath"

Greetings, {user}!
You must have seen the guards stationed around the College grounds for a while now.
These grounds are a hollow reminder of what this institution once was: a bastion of free speech and education. But no matter now.
But no matter now. There may be even darker forces at play.

"Thank you"
[The wizard turns away and busies himself]
ends conversation

"Darker forces?"
[The wizard frowns, and lowers his voice]
It is no secret the Council of Loures has distrusted Aislings from the conclusion of the Entreaty.
I have received evidence that a group within Loures may have been collecting evidence of Aisling mannerisms, under direction of the previous Councilor of Loures, Cyril.

{user}: Why?

For darker purposes. I fear it is in service of a thousand-year pact.
[He glances surreptitiously around ans speaks in a quiet whisper]
I cannot say more. Assistant Librarian Marlin will be able to shed more light on this. He is locked up in the castle.
Remember to come back to see me when you complete your task.
[He turns away, muttering to himself]

Marlin
"The Aftermath"

Uistean sent you. You may know that I was imprisoned by Cyril, the previous Councillor of Loures, due to his suspicions that I had somehow instigated Aislings to participate in the conflict between the Grimlok and Goblins.
The truth is that I was jailed because I became privy to a deep, dark secret of Loures.

{user}: What secret?

Put simply, Loures embarked on a incognito effort to create an army who could be easily manipulated and serve as a counterbalance to Aislings. From the days of The Entreaty, the Council had felt threatened by the nature of your kind.
It is apparent why: unlike us mundanes, your kind have minds of your own, and do not respond well to coercion.
Loures was afraid of ceding control of Undine: something that appears to be gaining traction in recent suns.
A secret group of wizards, formed from the descendants of those exiled from the Academie Arcanus during the Danaan age, was commissioned to lead this ambitious effort.
[His posture stiffens, and his tone is grave]

{user}: How is this all connected?

I believe these efforts may have some connection to the missing children and adults in Undine, and are further connected to the Council's sudden interest in Aisling mannerisms.
Not to mention Aisling disappearances, and jailings in the name of Loures.

{user}: Surely someone at Loures has done something.

Those who know must have been sworn to secrecy... or have already been silenced.
In my heart of hearts, I want to trust Cyril came around to the dark corruption of Loures, for he eventually paid with his life: no one alive truly knows what events transpired that led to his mangled body in the palace.
[A tear comes to his eye]

{user}: Where have these villagers and Aislings gone to?

I cannot be sure. But in my time as Assistant Librarian, I distinctly heard some of the corrupted court discussing the use of magic somewhere in Abel.
But forgive my ramblings. I suggest you go no further. It is for your sake.
[The librarian shakes his head]

{user}: Why?

You may end up dead. Or worse.
[He shudders]

Go to Abel Port Way

So, what did you learn?

"Nothing"
[The wizard frowns, and lowers his voice]

Hmm. How curious.
[He narrows his eyes at you, before turning away]

"Hand him an item"
[The wizard frowns, and lowers his voice]

I... see. So Cyril did it al for his daughter....
until he realized she was next, and so he decided to take her place.
What you tell of is extraordinary...
and yet I cannot find it in my heart to distrust you.
Finally... my heart can rest. I, like Marlin, knew Cyril too.
[He reads the note, eyes welling up in tears]
Thank you, Aisling. I pray more of your brethren will come forward to erase the blight from those lands, and free these mundanes from their eternal torment.
With enough effort, perhaps the spell on that unholy land can be broken one day...
for something more worthy to grow in its place.
I only fear the thousand-year pact may already have been renewed.
[He smiles, wistfully, and shakes his head]
On behalf of the Colleg, please accept this token of appreciation.
I feel horrid to be requesting this favor of you, but if you can find it within yourself, please return with your companions to continue to aid us before all of Temuair is overwhelmed. We must do all we can to repel the blight.

And Uistean gives an Eldritch Cache

talking to him again directly after

Thank you for your zeal, Aisling, but you look worn out from your efforts. As you very well now know,
the twisted mundanes and poor Cyril... or whatever that monstrosity is... are nonetheless powerful. Get some well-deserved rest.
[(( return in 30 real-life minutes ))]

talking to him again after the cooldown

Th...thank you again, sincerly. Now I know the true depth of the love that Cyril had for her daughter. Praise be to Ainmeal for his devotion. And to you, for uncovering this truth.
Please return to Dark Mileth College with your companions to continue to aid us before all of Temuair is overwhelmed.
